Post-Procedure Aftercare Instructions for Cosmetic Tattooing

Proper aftercare is essential to ensure optimal healing and long-lasting results from your cosmetic tattoo procedure.

Please adhere to the following guidelines:​

Immediate Care (Day of Procedure):

• Lymph Fluid Management: Throughout the day, gently blot your brow area with a clean, dry paper towel to remove any lymphatic fluid. This helps prevent the formation of scabs.​

• Initial Cleansing: Approximately 3–4 hours post-procedure, cleanse your brow area using the provided gentle cleanser. Use clean fingertips to apply the cleanser in a circular motion, then rinse with lukewarm water. Let your brow area area dry completely, then apply a very thin layer of aftercare cream (please note, you need to only use about a half of a rice grain size amount per eyebrow each time you apply it.... too much aftercare cream can make your brows heal light and patchy). 

• Additional Cleansing: If your appointment ends before 2pm, cleanse once more before bedtime that same day of your appointment.

Ongoing Care (Days 1–14):

• Cleansing Routine: Cleanse your brow area twice daily—once in the morning and once before bed—using the provided gentle cleanser. Avoid using any other skincare products on the treated area during this period.​

• Drying: Allow your brow area to air dry completely before applying the aftercare cream. Do not use towels or tissues to dry the area.

• Moisturizing: After cleansing and letting the brow area air dry, apply a thin layer of the provided aftercare cream with the following instructions in mind... For oily skin types, apply once daily at night. For normal to dry skin types, apply twice daily. Please note, you need to only use about a half of a rice grain size amount per eyebrow each time you apply it.... too much aftercare cream can make your brows heal light and patchy.

Activities to Avoid (First 14 Days):

• Moisture Exposure: Refrain from activities that cause excessive sweating. Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools, and hot tubs.

• Sun Exposure: Protect the brow area from direct sunlight. Do not use tanning beds or sunbathe.​

• Sleeping Position: It is recommended to sleep on your back to prevent pressure on the treated area.

• Facial Products: Avoid applying makeup, lotions, or other skincare products on or near the treated area.​

• Physical Contact: Do not touch, pick, or scratch the treated area. Allow any scabbing or flaking to occur naturally.

Skin Care Products to Avoid (6 Weeks Pre- and Post-Procedure):

Certain skincare ingredients can interfere with pigment retention and should be avoided:​

​- Use of products containing the following ingredients : retinols, retinol alternative (may not be listed directly on the ingredients list), vitamin c, vitamin a, lactic acid, glycolic acid, absorbic acid, kojic acid, citric acid, malic acid, benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, or any other kinds of acids must be stopped 30-60 days prior to any cosmetic tattoo sessions, and use must not be continued until 6 weeks after your cosmetic tattoo session.

- Prescription grade skincare must be stopped 30+ days prior to any cosmetic tattoo sessions, and use must not be continued until at least 6 weeks after your cosmetic tattoo session. 

- Any skin care formulated for acne/anti-aging/exfoliation must be stopped 14+ days prior, and use must not be continued until at least 6 weeks after your cosmetic tattoo session

- Chemical peels can be continued no sooner than six weeks from your last cosmetic tattoo session.

If you are uncertain about which products to use, consider the following options known for their gentle formulations:​

Healing Expectations:

• Mild scabbing, flaking, and itching are normal during the healing process.​

• Healing experiences may vary between individuals and between initial and touch-up sessions.​

• Adherence to aftercare instructions is crucial for optimal pigment retention and overall results.​

​

Important Notes:

• Do not use any makeup in the brow area for at least 14 days.

• Do not use any skincare products, or other products on the treated area other than those provided or recommended.​

• If you experience any signs of infection or unusual discomfort, contact your cosmetic tattoo artist and a healthcare professional immediately.

• If you have any issues with healing, or think you may need a touch up session, contact Lauren directly at (330)617-9106 within six weeks of your session.
